Volksgartenstrasse

The five storey building marks the corner of a turn of the century city block. Close to the train station and in the disappearing red-light district neighbourhood, this block finds itself in a city area that is being revitalized and gentrified. The recovery concept for these apartments – as a reaction to their existing compartmentalized spaces - is to create openness through efficient minimal interventions. Openness was achieved through removing walls and inserting service cores to collect installations in one concentrated space.
